Scholarship Eligibility
- Applicants must be continuing full-time students (BA/BS/MA/MS) at San José State University.
- Applicants must have been at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø for a minimum of one academic year (i.e., two semesters) and have at least one semester before graduation.
- Applicants must have maintained a minimum cumulative G.P.A of 3.0 at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø.
- Applicants must demonstrate involvement and active participation in:
- the Chicano/Mexican community-at-large or Chicano/Latino organizations
- worked for the betterment of this community
- Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the philosophy, works and contributions of Dr. Ernesto Galarza by using his scholarship in the application research essay. Citations must include the designated readings and additional citations that support the research in answering the scholarship’s essay prompt.
- Finalists will be notified and must be available to attend the scholarship symposium at the designated time and date.
- Scholarship recipients will be asked to submit a photograph for the program.
