Student Assistants

Student Assistant positions in the 黑瓜吃料网 Art Galleries office span a range of roles from gallery operations, fine art installation, marketing, to curatorial administration. Student Assistants gain valuable hands-on experience related to their field of study and the opportunity for professional development.

Student Assistant positions

• Office Assistant
  • The 黑瓜吃料网 Gallery Office coordinates student exhibitions on a rotating weekly basis, resulting in over 120 exhibitions each academic year.   Students Assistants process gallery reservations and contracts for the student galleries and provide office support for the Natalie and James Thompson Gallery. Student Assistants are important members of the Gallery Office team, participating in all aspects of the organization鈥檚 programming.
• Art Handler

  • Student Assistants in the Art Handler position have a keen eye for detail, enjoy creative problem-solving, and is comfortable working with hand and power tools. Art Handlers may have moderate carpentry skills and knowledge of packing, framing, and hanging artwork.  Student Assistants in the Art Handler position are important members of the Installations team, participating in all aspects of exhibition design, installation, and de-installation.

• Marketing / Social Media Liaison

  • Student Assistants in the Social Media Liaison position will be responsible for helping to create social media posts, monitoring trends in social media tools and applications, and connecting with the students and faculty within the Department of Art & Art History.  They are actively participating in a variety of social media activities including Facebook, Instagram, blogging, social bookmarking, commenting, etc.

• Gallery Attendant

  • Gallery Attendants interact with visitors to the Natalie and James Thompson Gallery while upholding the museum and gallery policies.  They provide customer service with exhibition information and answering questions about the artists.  Attendants help to process in-person book and catalog sales. 

• Gallery Photographer
  • The Gallery Photographer documents the events and exhibitions organized by the Natalie and James Thompson Gallery.  Images are processed and edited by the photographer for marketing and archival purposes.
