Instructional and Meeting Spaces (IMS) provides audio visual classroom equipment support for all of our adopted classrooms.
Below is a detailed display of classrooms, features, equipment, and troubleshooting
support tips.

Laptop Settings - Quick Start Guide
Tablet/iPad
IMS does not provide desktop or tablet/iPad support. We do not recommend and cannot guarantee tablet/iPad compatibility with our in-room technology systems. To ensure reliability anywhere on campus, In order for your device to function with our in-room technology, please double-check your resolution settings and ensure you know how to navigate the device settings for your device.
No Sound
- Review classroom instructions near the podium
- Restart device and reconnect cables securely
- Room System is powered on or restarted
- Room System and computer volume are up and not muted
- Cables & adapters securely plugged in at both ends
- Only connect ONE of the following to your laptop: VGA+Audio, or HDMI (both cannot
work at the same time)
- VGA: Audio cable plugged into laptop's headphone jack
- HDMI: No audio cable is plugged into laptop's headphone jack
- Correct audio input selected on Room System Controller
- Correct Laptop sound output set to:
a. VGA: Headphones
b. HDMI: Select the projector's name/display device's name (Example: Realtek HDMI, Samsung TV, P530, VMZ51, EPSON)

Sound from computer speakers only
In your laptop's sound output settings:
- DO NOT select: "internal" or "built in" speaker options.
- DO select sound output settings:
a. For VGA: Select Headphones (ensure VGA audio cable is plugged securely into your laptop's headphone jack.)
b. For HDMI: Select the projector's name/display device's name (Example: Realtek HDMI, Samsung TV, P530, VMZ51, EPSON)
Reminder: Only connect EITHER VGA+Audio or HDMI to your laptop. Both cannot work at the same time.

No Display/Intermittent Display
- Review classroom instructions near the podium
- Restart device and reconnect cables securely
- Room System is powered on or restarted
- Cables & adapters securely plugged in at both ends
- Only connect ONE of the following to your laptop: VGA+Audio, or HDMI (both cannot work at the same time)
- VGA: Audio cable plugged into laptop's headphone jack
- HDMI: No audio cable is plugged into laptop's headphone jack
- Correct source inputs selected on Room System Controller
- Switch to another input, wait 10 seconds, and switch back to the correct input
- Computer display output settings & resolution are correct:
Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Display" > "Display & Layout" section > Resolution:
If your default resolution is 1920x1200, change it to 1920x1080, or cycle through the list and apply a resolution that works on your device.

Check Display Adapter Properties:
Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Display".
Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings."
Click on "Display adapter properties for Display 2" (your external projector/monitor).
Under the "Adapter" tab, click on "List All Modes" and select 1280x#### resolution
if available.
If your default resolution is 1920x1200, change it to 1920x1080, or cycle through
the list and apply a resolution that works on your device.
For optimal display on older classroom projectors, we recommend using the VGA connection (with a usb-c to VGA adapter) instead of HDMI. This usually immediately resolves resolution and display issues that may occur with
HDMI.
Display is too small or cut off
Mac:
System Settings > Displays > Advanced > Turn on "Show all resolutions" > If your default is 1920x1200, change it to: 1920x1080 or go down the list and choose
the resolution that fits best on your external display.
For optimal display on older classroom projectors with Macs, we recommend using the
VGA connection (with a usb-c to VGA adapter) instead of HDMI. This usually immediately resolves resolution and display issues that may occur with
HDMI.
PC/Windows:
To access display settings: ❖ (Windows button) + P to change display source, resolution,
and display duplication settings
Or Right click a blank area on your desktop > Display Settings
If your default is 1920x1200, change it to: 1920x1080 or go down the list and choose
the resolution that fits best on your external display.
Lenovo: Display Settings > Scroll down to Advanced Display > Display Adapter properties >
list all modes > Select Display 2: External Display > Change Display Resolution to
1280x### > accept > Exit & Duplicate your display
